Valmikinagar is the north-western entry point of the Reserve. It was previously known as Bhainsalotan. It is situated along the southern bank of Gandak river, at the confluence point of Narayani, Pachnad and Sonaha rivers, also known as Triveni. Here also lies the Gandak Barrage and three ancient temples – Kouleswar, Jatashankar and Nar Devi. The tracts are hilly, traversed by different rivulets.
